Although both Okinawa and Hokkaido are islands, they have very different climates. Hokkaido is cool in summer and very cold in the winter, whereas Okinawa has a year-round tropical climate. I would much prefer to visit Okinawa because I want to eat tropical fruit and do marine sports, which you can’t do in Hokkaido. Of course I can buy tropical fruit in my local supermarket but it is expensive and not so fresh. On Okinawa I could eat freshly picked pineapples and guavas, which I love. I could also spend time at the beach on Okinawa, swimming, windsurfing and snorkeling. I certainly couldn’t do this in Hokkaido. Because I’m a warm weather lover, Okinawa would have to be a more preferred destination than Hokkaido.
